Traditional Shepherd’s Pie

Shepherd’s pie is part of the historical heritage of Quebec, it is comforting, warm and mostly filled with simplicity and authenticity for a cheap meal! Try our recipe if you don’t already have your own!

Ingredients:

For the beef

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • Oil, butter, for cooking
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the corn

  • 14 oz of cream corn
  • 11 oz of whole corn kernel

For the potatoes

  • 4 or 5 yellow potatoes 
  • Milk for the purée  (about 1/2 cup), to taste
  • Butter for the purée (about 1/4 cup), to taste

To garnish

  • Chopped parsley and paprika

Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Cook the potatoes in your Arezzo Dutch Oven in salt water.
  3. Meanwhile, heat the butter and oil in your Remy Olivier fry pan. Sauté the onion until it becomes translucent, then add the ground beef. Cook and set aside.
  4. When cooked, drain the potatoes and mash them with the help of your Think Kitchen potato ricer/food press and add the butter and milk until the texture becomes smooth.
  5. In your Think Kitchen glass rectangular baking dish, put in the ground beef, pour in the cream corn, whole corn kernel and top with the mashed potatoes.
  6. Garnish the dish with chopped parsley and a pinch of paprika, if desired.
  7. Heat the oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
  8. Enjoy!
