<p>What happens when you mix a Mexican delicacy with a classic breakfast staple? MAGIC, that’s what! This updated version of the beloved French toast is sure to make your weekend brunches even yummier thanks to its challah bread and warm spices.</p>

<p>Prepared the night before, this dish is the perfect way to feed an entire family or a small crowd!&nbsp;</p>

<p>Here’s how to make it:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="683" height="1024" src="https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-683x1024.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-7704" srcset="https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-683x1024.jpg 683w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-1365x2048.jpg 1365w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-200x300.jpg 200w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-1024x1536.jpg 1024w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-800x1200.jpg 800w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-1000x1500.jpg 1000w, https://blog.stokesstores.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/shutterstock_212398243-scaled.jpg 1707w" sizes="(max-width: 683px) 100vw, 683px" /></figure>

<p><strong><em>Ingredients:</em></strong><strong><em><br></em></strong></p>

<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>1 medium loaf of day-old challah bread</li><li>5 eggs</li><li>1 1/4 cup whole milk</li><li>2 tsp <a href="https://amzn.to/3iWH3wa">vanilla extract</a></li><li>5 tbsp butter, softened to room temperature</li><li>1 cup organic cane sugar</li><li>3 tsp cinnamon</li><li>1/2 tsp nutmeg</li></ul>

<p><strong><em>Preparation:</em></strong></p>

<ol class="wp-block-list"><li>In a large mixing bowl, add eggs, milk, and vanilla. Whisk until combined.<br></li><li>In a small plate, add sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix.<br></li><li>Slice challah bread into 1-inch slices. Butter each side with a thin layer of butter, approx. 1/2 tbsp butter for each slice.<br></li><li>Dip both sides of each slice of bread into the cinnamon sugar. Arrange in a buttered 11&#215;7 baking dish. *Keep extra cinnamon sugar aside to sprinkle before baking.<br></li><li>Pour egg mixture over arranged bread slices. Cover and refrigerate overnight.<br></li><li>When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350°F. Remove cover and sprinkle leftover cinnamon sugar. Bake for 35 &#8211; 40 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, fresh fruit, or a drizzle of chocolate sauce and enjoy!</li></ol>
