Ready, Set, Game Day!

More and more people are always looking for a reason to celebrate and what better reason than the Super Bowl! Whether you are actually watching because you enjoy football or you want to enjoy all the commercials and half-time show, a good time with friends and good food is a must! Lucky for you, we have some easy recipes to make sure your game day is well spent.

You want to make sure everything you make is easy and also easy for your guests to eat and enjoy! We’ve got 3 of our favourites just for you!

First up is a delicious dip! When thinking about hosting a party, especially a game day party, you automatically think of chips and dip. No need to wait for cinco de mayo to recreate this guacamole from Priscila’s Kitchen.

Sweet & Spicy Guacamole
Ingredients
  • 3 ripe avocados
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice between half to a full lime
  • 3 tbsp minced red onion
  • 1 jalapeno, stem and seeds removed, minced
  • 1/2 tsp dried chili flakes
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, finely chopped leaves and tender stems
  • 1/4 cup diced tomato
  • 1/4 cup ripe mango, finely diced
  • 1/2 tsp flaked sea salt
  • A dash of freshly grated black pepper
Instructions
  1. Cut the avocados in half. Remove seed and scoop out the flesh with a spoon, into a bowl.

  2. With a fork, roughly mash the avocados, I prefer to keep it a little chunky.

  3. Add the lime juice and mix well. The acidity of the lime juice will delay the avocados from turning brown, balances the rich flavours and adds brightness.

  4. Add the chopped onion, cilantro, mango, jalapeno and chili peppers. Chili peppers vary individually in their hotness. So as I mentioned, start with half and add to the guacamole until you’ve reached your desired degree of hotness.

  5. Add salt & pepper to taste.

  6. If you are making this ahead and storing in the fridge, wait to add the tomatoes right before serving. I like to add half the diced tomatoes in the guac and sprinkle the rest on top.

  7. Serve with tortilla chips or veggies and dig in!

Why not give your guests a variety of options for their chips! Priscila’s Kitchen has mastered the homemade dip with this easy way to make hummus or baba ghanoush.

Another fan favourite are tacos! We’ve got you covered with Pulled Pork Tacos (Two Ways) because we love to give our guests options!

Remember that no matter how you choose to spend Super Bowl Sunday or any other game day event you’re hosting, the number 1 tip we recommend is to have fun!
