Maintaining Your Wood Cutting Boards

Keep your wood cutting boards looking great year after year with these tips for cleaning & maintaining them!

1.Only use soap to clean the board if youʼve been cutting chicken or other ingredients that run the risk of salmonella poisoning. For all the other ingredients, rinse off any large particles that might have been left behind and then use coarse salt and half a lemon to scrub away odors & stains.

2.Always remember to thoroughly rinse with HOT (the hotter the better!) water to ensure no residue has been left behind!

3.Dry your boards standing vertically to ensure good air flow…and if it’s a sunny day, let them dry in the sun!

4.Hydrate your boards with a small amount of mineral or olive oil to prevent it from cracking. This also prevents liquids from penetrating the board, which is often the source of germs and bacteria .
