We. Love. Waffles. And if you’re here, we’re willing to bet you do too! From breakfast (covered with your favourite combo of maple syrup/jam/peanut butter/whipped cream/whatever else your little heart desires) to dinner (chicken and waffles, anyone?), they’re the perfect balance of fun and tasty.
Plus, they’re super easy to make! With just a few ingredients, you can easily whip up this classic recipe that’s sure to become a staple in your home.
Wanna try? Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 3 large eggs (separated)
- 2 cups of your favourite milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
Preparation:
- Using a whisk, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- In two separate bowls, separate the egg whites from the yolks.
- To the bowl with the yolks, add the milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Whisk together and set aside.
- With a hand mixer or a manual whisk, whisk the egg whites to soft peaks (removing the whisk will create a small peak that will slowly slump back into the mix).
- While your waffle maker is heating up, add the yolks mixture to the dry ingredients and whisk together until well mixed.
- Gently mix the egg whites into the batter, by folding them in, a spoonful at a time, until they’re all mixed in.
- Spray the inside of the waffle maker with a non-stick spray.
- Use a ladle to scoop up some batter and pour it in the middle of the waffle maker. (The quantity will depend on how big the waffle maker and the ladle are, so it’s best to start with one scoop and adjust from there).
- Cook each waffle for about 8-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- While your first waffle is cooking, set your oven to “keep warm” or 170°F. Pop each waffle into the warm oven as they’re ready so that everything is warm when you serve!
